BIO

Bonnie Nelson Schwartz, Producer is a Tony and Emmy-nominated producer of Broadway theatre, television, and concerts with more than 100 plays, films, television programs and concerts in Washington, DC, New York, London, and in South Africa to her credit. On Broadway, she co-produced Tony-Nominated plays Ian McKellen: Acting Shakespeare; Pack of Lies; Jerome Kern Goes to Hollywood; and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s State Fair, and Dylan Thomas Return Journey, directed by Anthony Hopkins.
Her 25 years of concert productions include Give My Regards to Broadway: A Salute to 125 Years of Musical Theater at Carnegie Hall; the London production of Panbeaters; and the Concert Against Hate; the Martin Luther King Birthday Celebration; Legacy & Life: A Tribute to John F. Kennedy at the John F. Kennedy Center, and Vital Signs of the Planet at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for the COP26 Climate Summit.
Ms. Schwartz is the founder and original producer of Washington, DC’s Helen Hayes Awards. She was a producer for NBC’s Closing Ceremonies at the Barcelona Olympic Games and produced the multi-media exhibition, The Olympic Woman for the Atlanta Olympic Games which led to the creation of the International Olympic Committee’s Commission on Women. She was Co-Director of the national festival, 2020 One Woman One Vote celebrating the Centennial of the 19th Amendment and Producer of the Tribute to Ava DuVernay with Jason Moran at the John F. Kennedy Center.
She is the Executive Producer of the Emmy-nominated Traveling While Black film and exhibition and the creator and director of the Global Climate Uprising Festival featured at the COP26 UN Climate Summit in Glasgow.

The 34th Annual Helen Hayes Awards will take place on Monday, May 14, 2018 at The Anthem, the cultural center of Southwest D.C.'s new District Wharf, with a celebratory party to follow. Esteemed Washington theatre artists Michael J. Bobbitt, five-time Helen Hayes Award nominee, choreographer and Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre MTC, and Alyssa Wilmoth Keegan, recipient of last year's Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play-Hayes Production for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, will host an evening showcasing the vibrant and diverse community of professional theatre artists in the Washington region. There are 258 Helen Hayes Award nominations-selected from 202 eligible productions from 64 theatres in 2017. Tickets for the event are $100 for reserved seating and $275 for VIP premium seating. Reduced-priced tickets will be available to artists and administrators in the community at an industry rate, subsidized by Artist Supporter tickets.
