BLAKE WALTON is an award-winning actor, playwright and director who returned to New York after a 21 year absence. Most recently he performed in his solo play LEADING MEN (Director Ann Morrison)at the 2013 United Solo Festival on Theatre Row where he was honored a second year with the "Best Premiere Award" after winning the award in 2012 for his performance in Ann Morrison's solo play TREVOR'S FIRE. He also directed Ann Morrison in her new solo play WORD PAINTING:Soliloquies Around An Easel for the 2013 Festival and the prior year her LINDA LOVELY GOES TO BROADWAY (2012 United Solo Award "Best Actress"). He played Felix in The Hampton Theater Company's MY THREE ANGELS and Off Broadway at The Emerging Artists Theater in the world premiere, FAMILY COMES FIRST. Regional Theater credits include: Jeffrey in JEFFREY and Molina in the play KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (Central Stage), Michael in SNAKEBIT (Gorilla Theatre), Charlie/others in DIRTY BLONDE (American Stage), Greg in THE SUM OF US (Florida Studio Theatre), Hysterium in FORUM, Littlechap in STOP THE WORLD…, Robert in DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER (Golden Apple), The Baker in INTO THE WOODS (The Players) Michael in I DO, I DO!, (Sarasota Magazine Award: Best Actor in a Musical) and Bette Davis in ME & JEZEBEL (SAMMY AWARD: Best Actor), both at Theatre Works, Sarasota. He studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School with William Esper, Phillip Gushee and had a rare opportunity to work with Sanford Meisner. After playing a small role, the Court Page, in ST. JOAN at Long Wharf Theatre, he originated roles in several new plays and musicals in New York: HAM, SONGS AND CEREMONIES and a new translation of SCHOOL FOR WIVES, then was cast as Mark in Doric Wilson’s original TOSOS production of his ground-breaking THE WEST STREET GANG, now honored as part of a permanent installation in The Museum of The City of New York. This was followed by Thomas Farrington’s RAIN KISSES, YOUNG BANKERS IN LOVE, and THE OLD MAGICIAN IN LOVE with The Farrington Company. With Amy Whitman he wrote EB & FLO, (The Walnut Street Theater, Philadelphia), then on his own OUT OF MY MIND (Bailiwick Theater, Chicago). He has taught acting to students age 8 to 80, directed large musicals (42nd STREET, BIG RIVER, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN) and worked in L.A. as agent’s assistant then casting assistant casting TV pilots, films, commercials and regional theaters. He is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, and United Solo Academy and is Co-Founder and Managing Director of SaraSolo Productions a theater company based in Sarasota, FL dedicated to developing and presenting solo and small cast plays.
