BILLY CHRISTOPHER MAUPIN (Director) was recently honored by STYLE Weekly as one of Richmond’s “Top 40 Under 40.” Directing credits include Butterflies Are Free (Barksdale Theatre), Jack and the Beanstalk (Theatre IV), The Dark at the Top of the Stairs (New York City), 365 Days/365 Plays Revisited (K Dance and Firehouse Theatre Project), and A Gender-Reversed Exploration of Macbeth (Richmond Shakespeare) as well as Firehouse’s readings of Rabbit Hole, Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge, and Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. Upcoming directing projects include productions of Nijala Sun’s one-woman tour-de-force, No Child... (starring Carolyn Meade), Firehouse Theatre Project’s Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal, and Bad Dates by Theresa Rebeck (yet another one-woman play) at Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern, as well as staged readings of Durang’s Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge, The Four of Us by Itamar Moses (Starring Kyle Cornell and Jacob Pennington), and Master Class by Terrance McNally (starring Jeanie Rule). This spring, Billy Christopher will be appearing in FTP’s Something Intangible as well as a thrilling, new one-man-performance of Thornton Wilder’s American classic, Our Town.
