Composer and Lyricist Bill Solly Dies at 89
Bill Solly, accomplished composer, lyricist and author peacefully passed away in his home Wednesday, April 8th. Born in 1931 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Solly graduated from McMaster University in 1953 and pioneered the musical theatre division at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta. Living in England for fifteen years, he wrote for many colorful celebrities and had five productions in the West End.

THEATER BOYS Being Recorded for Three Projects
Audiences attending the musical comedy 'Theater Boys' at the 13th Street Repertory Theater might notice a camera or two--or three!--filming this week. Brian Gari is shooting an archival video of the entire two-hour show; Sam Donnenberg continues on-location shooting for his documentary about the making of the show, 'For the Theater'; and award-winning independent filmmaker Max Galassi, from Newtown, Connecticut, will be shooting a short film in connection with the show.

Pandora Productions opens its 2013-14 season on Thursday, September 12, with Boy Meets Boy, a high spirited musical homage to the romantic screwball comedies of the '30s. Throughout 1936, the world's press and newsreels are abuzz with stories about the World's Most Eligible Bachelor; His Majesty King Edward VIII - By the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India, Titular Ruler of one quarter of the world, the King-Emperor is the most eligible man of his day. Dashingly handsome, he is linked romantically to many; his final choice precipitates a constitutional crisis. Mrs Wallis Warfield Simpson, an American divorcee, succeeds where all others have failed. While the United States reels from the Great Depression, Continental Europe is shadowed by the menace of Hitler and the National Socialist party as the storm clouds gather for the maelstrom to come. Meanwhile, society London exists in the twilight of empire, a hedonistic ballroom where party-goers dance away the last years of peace.
