Last night, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley received the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, hosted by James Corden and featuring a galaxy of stage and screen stars, including Tina Fey, Laura Linney, Bryan Cranston, Adam Driver, Audra McDonald and hundreds of other famed performers, directors, playwrights and designers. Broadway star Danny Burstein (also a TheatreWorks alumnus) welcomed to the stage TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, Executive Director Phil Santora, and TheatreWorks's Trustee Chair Judy Heyboer, where they accepted the nation's highest recognition for a regional theatre.

Paul King in Talks to Direct Disney's Live-Action Pinocchio
Paul King, who recently directed Paddington, is in talks to direct the live-action Pinocchio film, based on the 1941 Disney animated classic, according to Deadline. Jack Throne is scripting the film and it is planned to begin filming in the fall.

Main Street Theater (MST) continues its 40th Anniversary Season with the world premiere of 1946 by Houston playwright Thomas Hagemann. Main Street produced the world premiere of Mr. Hagemann's Breakfast at Eight in 2010 as well as the staged reading of 1946 in 2014.
Main Street Theater to Present Reading of Thomas Hagemann's 1946, 1/28
On January 28 at 7pm, Main Street Theater will present the first reading of local playwright Thomas Hagemann's latest work, 1946. Main Street produced the world premiere of Hagemann's Breakfast at Eight in 2010. This staged reading, which will be followed by a discussion with the playwright and wine and cheese reception, is a Part of the Art Series event at Main Street and will benefit MST's current Capital Campaign to purchase and renovate its Times Blvd. location in Rice Village. Tickets are $50 and $25 (and $25 of the $50 ticket is tax-deductible).
