Lionel Messi to be Featured on Premiere Episode of 60 MINUTES SPORTS, 1/9
The first edition of 60 MINUTES SPORTS will feature a rare interview with Lionel Messi, the record-breaking soccer player considered by many to be the best of all time. Bob Simon went to Spain to talk to Messi, an Argentine who plays for FC Barcelona, to interview the man who just broke the 40-year-old record for scoring the most goals in a calendar year. Messi is only 25 years old. The profile will be featured on the series premiere of 60 MINUTES SPORTS, a new magazine program from the makers of the iconic CBS News series 60 MINUTES, the originator of the television genre. The monthly, one-hour 60 MINUTES SPORTS premieres on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT on SHOWTIME and represents the first time original 60 MINUTES content will air on premium television.
CBS's 60 MINUTES Wins Five News and Documentary Emmy Awards
60 MINUTES took home five Emmys at the 33rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York City last night, the most awarded to any single commercial broadcast network program. In addition, 48 HOURS and the CBS EVENING NEWS each won a statuette, bringing the CBS News Network a total of seven Emmys.
CBS News & Showtime Sports Team Up For 60 MINUTES SPORTS
For the first time, original 60 MINUTES segments will appear on a cable network under a new agreement between 60 MINUTES and SHOWTIME Sports. 60 MINUTES OF SPORTS, a new sports news magazine show from the producers of the iconic news program, will debut in November on SHOWTIME, the CBS-owned premium television network.

60 MINUTES made Nielsen's Top 10 list this week in viewers and households. America's top news program finished at #8 in both categories, drawing 10.80 million viewers and scoring a 6.9/11 in households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for March 18.
