The New Vic Theatre and renowned theatre company Told by an Idiot will collaborate for the first time this April on a rare revival of the cult '60s classic, The Killing of Sister George.

As their production of Marvellous takes the West End by storm, Staffordshire's New Vic Theatre has announced a season of work that features an innovative theatrical experiment, a revival of a cult classic, a rare staging of a hit regency comedy and more, as they collaborate with partners across the country including Headlong Theatre and Told by an Idiot, for spring 2023.

TACT'S THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE Revival Begins Tonight Off-Broadway

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically-acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated Off-Broadway company 'dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit,' presents the first New York revival in 30 years of The Killing of Sister George, the controversial 1964 play by Frank Marcus. The first production of the company's 22nd Season will be directed by TACT Company Member Drew Barr, who directed the company's Fall 2012 production of Brian Friel's Lovers. Performances begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) tonight, September 23, 2014. Opening night is set for Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30pm. Performances will continue through November 1, 2014.

'The Killing of Sister George' shocked and delighted audiences in London in 1964 and then again in 1966 on Broadway as one of the first plays about a lesbian couple. It was subsequently made into a film 'The Killing of Sister George' in 1968 and Beryl Reid was nominated for an Academy Award for her portayal of Sister George.
