Berwick Kaler's 40th Pantomime at Theatre Royal Will Be THE GREAT OLD DAME OF YORK
York's legendary long-serving dame Berwick Kaler has announced the title of his 40th pantomime at the Theatre Royal. Traditionally, he reveals the title of the forthcoming show on the last night of the panto - and this year was no exception. After the curtain came down on the final performance of this year's highly successful production of Jack & the Beanstalk, he announced to the packed auditorium that the title of the 2018-19 pantomime as The Grand Old Dame of York.

For me, the best thing about panto is the stuff that's not in the script - we went every year when I was little and my favourite memory is of the year that Brian Blessed's trousers split when he was playing Captain Hook and he and Smee had an extended fit of giggles.
TOMORROW Extends Through May 5 at Skylight Theatre Complex
Now at the forefront of play development and producing new works, three award-winning theaters have joined forces for the first time. The beneficies are Los Angeles theatre audiences able to see this World Premiere staging of Donald Freed's new play, Tomorrow. Damian Cruden (Artistic Director from England's York Royal Theatre) directs a stellar cast, which includes Salome Jens, Kevin Quinn, and Jenn Robbins. Tomorrow runs at the Skylight Theatre Complex through May 5, 2013.

Damian Cruden's Enormous YORK MYSTERY PLAYS Opens Tonight, Aug 2
The York Mystery Plays, a medieval cycle of plays which have been performed by the people of York for hundreds of years, will return to the city this year on an epic scale from today, 2 to 27 August. As well as a cast of professional actors, over 2,500 people will be involved in the staging of this production including over 1,500 local volunteers as the two casts of community ensemble, musicians, choir and crew.
