Jazz Standards with Christos Yerolatsitis and George Bizios Comes to Technopolis 20

Pianist Christos Yerolatsitis and guitarist George Bizios come together to re-visit and interpret well-known standards from the 'Great American Songbook', but also music from bands and composers of more recent times. The intimacy of the duo setting allows them to focus on interactivity and gives them space to explore, in a more profound way, the content of each piece of music. Amsterdam's Les Cooles De Ville Releases 'L.C.D.V.'

Les Cooles De Ville is an Amsterdam based alternative hiphop group creating soulful music using elements of jazz, bossa nova and pop. Recording and performing with live instrumentation and a mixture of samples and electronics they bring a unique, international vibe to the musical landscape Quirky colourful, laidback and romantic they deliver a sound reminiscent of contemporaries like The Internet and Tom Misch. Sometimes referred to as the Dutch equivalent of the Native Tongues the group's sound is inspired by acts like Digable Planets, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Lucy Pearl and Slum Village.
Utopia Opera Presents Sondheim's PASSION In NYC

On March 9 at 8pm, March 10 at 3pm and 8pm, and March 11 at 3pm, Utopia Opera presents PASSION with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine, based on the film 'Passione d'Amore' by Ettore Scola, in a fully-staged production performed with a 15-piece orchestra at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue). Benjamin Spierman stage directs and Utopia founder William Remmers conducts.

Stephen Emmer's latest offering International Blue (Release date September 16th) pays tribute to the rare art of the pop crooner. As an accolade to this touch of elegance within the pop realm, International Blue infuses a modern twist to the genre with contemporary sounds & beats, studio techniques, insights and lyrical meaning in ten new and original compositions. A celebration of the epic chamber music pop of Burt Bacharach, Scott Walker, Nick Cave and Bowie, it features four of the great baritone singers in the UK today; Midge Ure (Ultravox), Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), Liam McKahey (Cousteau) and Neil Crossley (Furlined). and was mixed and produced by the legendary Tony Visconti at Abbey Road Studios and Avator Studios in NYC.
Eclipse Theatre Company Celebrates Neil Simon

Eclipse Theatre Company's two-year celebration of the first ten playwrights featured by the company - The Celebration Series - continues by honoring the life and work of 2003 featured playwright Neil Simon with 'Plaza Suite.' One of Simon's most popular and celebrated plays, 'Plaza Suite' details the misadventures of three very different couples as they face crucial moments in their respective lives, all in the same hotel room in the world famous Plaza Hotel. 'Plaza Suite' showcases Simon at his best - witty, clever and relentlessly funny. The show runs approximately two hours with two intermissions. Post-show discussions with the cast will be held following the Sunday matinees on July 27, August 3, August 10 and August 17, 2008 (free with paid ticket).
