The Kennedy Center Announces 50th KCACTF National Festival

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.
The Donny Hathaway Live Tribute Comes To The Troubadour March 15

The world famous Troubadour in Los Angeles will host the Donny Hathaway Live Tribute this Friday March 15th at 9 p.m. An incredible group of musicians and singers will come together to perform the music featured on the classic album 'Donny Hathaway Live' which was released in 1972. Long considered one of the best live albums ever recorded, the songs are taken from a performance originally given by Donny Hathaway at the Troubadour back in 1971.

Croatian vocalist and composer, Astrid Kuljanic, will bring her complex musical sensibility to the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on October 24th with an eclectic program of jazz-infused traditional folk music from a wide variety of traditions, including Klezmer and Balkan standards. She will perform tracks from her up-coming album, Riva, recorded in the Spring of 2017 with her new group, Transatlantic Exploration Company, made up of accordionist and jazz pianist Ben Rosenblum, bassist Mat Muntz, and percussionist Rogerio Boccato. The evening will also include special guests: the groups Hrvatska Ruza, Rosa and Asaran Earth Trio, as well as saxophonist Elijah Shiffer, and violinist Ben Sutin. Hailing from Croatia, Seattle, New York City and Brazil, Transatlantic Exploration Company unites four musical worlds, bound together by a shared dedication to exploring new musical forms. Riva reflects Kuljanic's immersion in the musical traditions of India and Brazil, Klezmer, avant-garde improvisation and electronica.
