BIO

Australian born Ben McHugh has never been far from the stage. His first experience was as Danny Zuko in his high school production of GREASE. Discovering his love for the theater and acting, Ben performed in numerous community musical theater productions, before being accepted in to the prestigious West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to which he graduated with a BA in Musical Theater.


Ben has since performed in the Australian National Tours of PIRATES OF PENZANCE, SHOUT! THE MUSICAL OF THE WILD ONE and most notably THE PRODUCERS (directed by Susan Stroman) as the "Springtime For Hitler" Lead Tenor for which he was nominated for a Green Room Award. Other productions have included KING LEAR (Oswald), BAREFOOT IN THE PARK (Paul), NO SEX PLEASE... WE'RE BRITISH! (Peter), CHESS (Anatoly), ANYTHING GOES (Billy), A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM (Hero) and TITANIC (Thomas Andrews).
He has also been a regular guest singer on Bert Newton's GOOD MORNING AUSTRALIA (Network Ten Australia), and was given the incredible opportunity to sing the New Zealand National Anthem for the Rugby Union Bledisloe Cup at Sydney's Olympic Park Stadium. He has also been a regular performer with P&O Australia and Princess Cruises.
In 2015, Ben made his Broadway debut in the ABBA hit musical MAMMA MIA! He has also appeared in the National Tours of HAIRSPRAY, MAMMA MIA!, and the International Tour of GREASE. New York credits include THE SECRET GARDEN, TITANIC, 50 SHADES OF F****D UP, TOKIO CONFIDENTIAL, JEKYLL & HYDE, ICON and LIBERTY: A MONUMENTAL NEW MUSICAL (the original Off-Broadway Cast Recording is now available on iTunes). He can be seen in the upcoming short film "PICKUP" and most recently co-starred in the CBS hit police drama "BLUE BLOODS" opposite Donnie Wahlberg, directed by Alex Zakrzewski.
He is currently performing in Punchdrunk's off-Broadway hit SLEEP NO MORE.
