LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD (Catercita Roja) is Storybook Theatre's award-winning musical retelling of the famous fairy tale. There is a Granny at the Pianny, a funny wolf, and an adorable Little Riding Hood. There are opportunities for audience participation as Little Red Riding Hood goes through the woods to Granny's house. Fun for the whole family.
Cal State LA Theatre Graduate Receives National Production Design Recognition
Hernandez is graduating as part of Cal State LA's Class of 2021. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with an option in design and production, and finished with a 3.9 GPA. The 21-year-old Boyle Heights resident hopes to start a career in themed entertainment, helping create worlds like the ones she loved getting lost in growing up.

Tonight I witnessed proof that the new medium of virtual theater is being transformed in the minds and hands of young people whose vision of what could be knows no bounds, thanks to MFA and Undergraduate students at Cal State LA whose production of WAR OF THE WORLDS, adapted by Ben Hernandez based on the novel by H.G. Wells and directed by Stephen Rothman, offered a very modern take on the classic Sci Fi tale of aliens invading the Earth, seemingly with destruction of the human race as their goal.
Palm Springs International Film Festival Announces Festival Line-Up
The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4. The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019. The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.
Austin Film Festival Announces Full 25th Anniversary Film and Conference Schedule
Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today the full schedule of films and panels for the 25th Anniversary festival, this October 25-November 1. AFF's feature film slate includes 23 World, North American, and US Premieres, a robust retrospective series, and highly anticipated marquee titles, including Steve McQueen's and Gillian Flynn's modern-day thriller Widows, Peter Farrelly's dramedy period piece Green Book starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, Mike Leigh's period piece Peterloo, Mickey Rourke-starring boxing drama Tiger, Paul Dano's Wildlife starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, and Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges family drama Ben is Back bowing as AFF's Centerpiece selection, with writer/director Peter Hedges in attendance.
Community Film Studio Santa Barbara to Screen THE BET at Arlington Theatre, 4/19-20
Community Film Studio Santa Barbara presents their first feature-length film THE BET at the Arlington Theatre (Santa Barbara, CA) on April 19th and 20th, 2013 at 7 p.m. This delightful romantic comedy marks the directorial debut of Finola Hughes, veteran film and television actress and local Carpinteria resident. The film was produced by Christine Fry, James Kahn, and Jack Presnal. Annie J. Dahlgren and Christina Eliason wrote the script, which pits a teenager against his grandfather in a wager over who will find love first. If the teen wins, he acquires his deceased father's vintage muscle car; and if the grandfather wins, the teen has to rebuild the family porch and re-do the landscaping.
STAGE TUBE: Costa Contemporanea's LA IGNORANCIA Videodance Workshop
As a part of the activities related to Mes de Danza in Seville there will be on 20th November a presentation of Costa Contemporanea. Costa Contemporánea is a Contemporary Dance and Performing Arts Festival held in Natural Park Cabo de Gata, Almeria, Spain. The presentation will be followed by the screening of a selection of videodances created by Yara Paz, Tristana Castilla, Ruben Hernandez and Gwladys Le Calvez during the videodance workshop held at the festival this year. NVA Announces MANDO BASSO In Off-Night Series 3/16
New Village Arts Theatre is pleased to announce two fabulous music events in the coming weeks. First, on Monday, March 16th, the NVA Off-Night Series continues with an intimate performance by two of North County's most highly-regarded musicians, Gunnar Biggs and Bill Bradbury in MANDO BASSO. Then, on Tuesday, April 7th, due to popular demand, Susanna Kurner and Nathan James will return for the third night of unforgettable Jazz & Blues, with even more special guests on the roster. Both performances begin at 7:30 PM and all tickets are pay-what-you-can, with 75% of the box office going directly to the musicians.
