BIO

Basil Rodericks studied with John Basil at the American Globe Conservatory Theatre (AGT) where he performed for over ten seasons. He continued classical work with unShout the Noise under the direction of Ron Canada, then joined Hedgepig Ensemble. Repertoire includes Othello and Iago, Claudius and the Ghost among many faves; Lord Capulet, Prospero, King of France. Recently, he worked with Alle Mims on contemporary projects under David Henry Wang; Bill in ”PINK”, Langston Hughes in “Harlem to Moscow as Told by Langston Hughes”. Directorial work includes; “Kindergarten Confidential” (Debbie Goodstein), ”The Wanderer” (David Glover). Also a theatrical photographer with clients including 59e59, he captured seasons of ABTC productions before circling back to direct “Pecking Order” to the win in the company’s 2022 “Cornerstone Reading Series”. Basil has also served as an evaluator on Hedgepig’s “Expand the Canon” committee, a nominator for The Drama League Awards, and teaches photography in the Bronx.

YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT Begins Previews Tomorrow

American Bard Theater Company presents the New York City premiere of You Wouldn't Expect, a play written by Marilynn Barner Anselmi examining the staggering truths about the coercive influence of the government-sponsored eugenics program and its direct focus on poverty and race. Cezar Williamsdirects a cast of eight, including Cherie Danielle, Adiagha Faizah, Carl Fisk, Erin Gilbreth*, Ross G. Hewitt, Malikha Mallette, Okema T Moore*, and Atiya Yanique Taylor. Fifteen performances will be staged at The Chain Theater, 312 West 36th Street in New York City, from September 19-October 7, 2018.
