CMT's Music Dramas NASHVILLE and SUN RECORDS Strike the Right Chords with Viewers
CMT's new Thursday night block of music dramas is off to a strong start, attracting more than six million viewers for a powerful episode of “Nashville” and the highly-anticipated premiere of “Sun Records,” to notch the most watched night of CMT originals in the channel's history. The successful premieres come on the heels of overall ratings growth. Original premieres on CMT are pacing up 46% among A 18-49 and 73% among W 18-49 versus year ago. Total day ratings are up 27% with A 18-49 and 31% with W 18-49.
Trevor Donovan Boards CMT's MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
Trevor Donovan (“JL Ranch,” “Texas Rising”) is set to join the cast of CMT's new scripted drama “Million Dollar Quartet” (working title) as Eddy Arnold, country music and pop phenomenon with 85 million records sold and 28 No. 1 hits during his 60 year career. The son of a sharecropper, Arnold's inimitable baritone voice brought country to the masses, and made him the most popular country artist of the 20th century with hits including “Make The World Go Away.” Arnold and Elvis Presley shared much in common throughout their careers, including manager Colonel Tom Parker. Arnold has been cited as having profound influence on Elvis, who cut a number of his songs over the years. He also ranked among CMT's list of 'The 40 Greatest Men of Country Music.'
Chad Michael Murray to Lead CMT Series Inspired by Musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
CMT today announced that Chad Michael Murray ('Agent Carter,' 'Outlaws and Angels' and 'Texas Rising') will portray rock 'n' roll pioneer Sam Phillips in the upcoming scripted drama inspired by the musical 'Million Dollar Quartet.' Jennifer Holland ('American Pie Presents: The Book of Love,' 'American Horror Story') will play Sam's devoted wife Becky Phillips, while Margaret Anne Florence ('Inside Amy Schumer,' and '30 Rock')is set to play his assistant-turned-girlfriend, Marion Keisker. Production begins this spring in Memphis with the series slated to premiere this November on CMT.
NEA/NEH to Hold Free 50th Anniversary Event at Michigan State University
In recognition of the founding of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Michigan State University and the College of Arts and Letters will host a community-wide 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration at 7:00 P.M. on October 23, 2015 at Wharton Center for the Performing Arts on MSU's campus.
MoMA to Open 'LATIN AMERICA IN CONSTRUCTION' Exhibition, 3/29
On the 60th anniversary of its last major survey of modern architecture in Latin America, The Museum of Modern Art returns its focus to the region with Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955-1980, a complex overview of the positions, debates, and architectural creativity from the Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuego, from Mexico to Cuba to the Southern Cone, between 1955 and 1980. On view March 29 through July 19, 2015, Latin America in Construction is organized by Barry Bergdoll, Curator, and Patricio del Real, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA; Jorge Francisco Liernur, Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Carlos Eduardo Comas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil; with the assistance of an advisory committee from across Latin America.
MoMA and MoMA PS1 Announce Young Architects Program 2015
The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1 announce Andres Jaque/Office for Political Innovation as the winner of the annual Young Architects Program (YAP) in New York. Now in its 16th edition, the Young Architects Program at MoMA and MoMA PS1 has been committed to offering emerging architectural talent the opportunity to design and present innovative projects, challenging each year's winners to develop creative designs for a temporary, outdoor installation at MoMA PS1 that provides shade, seating, and water. The architects must also work within guidelines that address environmental issues, including sustainability and recycling. Andres Jaque, drawn from among five finalists, will design a temporary urban landscape for the 2015 Warm Up summer music series in MoMA PS1's outdoor courtyard.
