BWW Review: TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS at Austin Playhouse
In TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, a woman sits on a couch typing away advice to strangers she will never meet in person. The three strangers that invite themselves into her living room represent an array of characters that write anonymous letters to Dear Sugar. The play masterfully connects them all through an insightful reflection of the meaning of love, life, and happiness, rooted in personal experiences, empathy, and compassion for one another.
BWW Review: HANG - A Modern Apologue
HANG by Debbie Tucker Green is a thoroughly modern play. Using only three actors, a bare bones set and lasting only 90 minutes, HANG uses clever dialogue to pull the audience in and twists the mind brilliantly. Currently showing at Ground Floor Theatre the play, that debuted in 2015, boasts an unequaled cast and crew that shatters the audience's perception with an unforeseen plot twist. Producer/Director Chuck Ney and his new production company, Horizon Line Theatre, have chosen the perfect show to make their first foray into the Austin theatre scene. Witty, articulate and provocative, HANG holds the audience in rapt attention, our heads spinning for the duration.

BWW Review: THE TOTALITARIANS is Razor Sharp Side-Splittingly Funny Satire
THE TOTALITARIANS is a new play by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb that had its world premiere in 2014. It is a satirical comedy that takes a behind the scenes look at modern politics and how a speech writer can make or break someone running for public office. Although the play is about a woman running for Attorney General in Nebraska, the play shines a bright light on the current political campaign here in America examining just how easy it is to sway the populace with unsubstantiated facts and catchy slogans. It also happens to be one of the sharpest satires since the days of Jules Feiffer.
BWW Review: FIXING TIMON OF ATHENS Delivers Modern Parable On Greed
Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare is one of his plays that scholars either group with his tragedies or as one of the so-called "problem plays". FIXING TIMON OF ATHENS is part of an on-going attempt by the Rude Mechs to make more accessible and usable pieces of theatre out of the canon of Shakespeare's problem plays. With FIXING TIMON OF ATHENS Kirk Lynn has essentially cleaned-up and streamlined the play into a ten character piece that functions as a modern and timely parable about greed.
