BWW Review: Boulevard Theatre Presents Win-Win Evening in WHERE THE STREETCAR BENDS THE CORNER DOWN BY THE ZOO!

This fall, Boulevard Theatre raises the curtain once again (metaphorically speaking, yes!) at Plymouth Church with a nostalgic, noteworthy collaboration between Boulevard and Plymouth Chorale along with inspiration from Milwaukee Opera Theatre.  Artistic Director Mark Bucher produces an original production in the church sanctuary creating the charming and kitschy Where the Streetcar Bends the Corner, Down by the Zoo!
Odyssey Opera Announces THE BRITISH INVASION: A Festival of English Musical Dramas

Odyssey Opera, a Boston-­??based opera company dedicated to exploring the full spectrum of adventurous repertoire, today announced THE BRITISH INVASION, a month-­??long opera festival of fully-­??staged productions of works by English composers. From May 17-­??June 20, Boston opera lovers will have the unique opportunity to choose from four evening-­??length programs encompassing nine diverse operatic works, including the Boston premiere of Vaughan Williams's Sir John in Love, a double bill of Walton's The Bear and Sullivan's The Zoo, five compelling monodramas, and Ade?s's masterpiece of modern cultural commentary, Powder Her Face. Utopia Opera to Present L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES & THE ZOO, 3/13-14

On March 13 and 14 at 7:30pm, Utopia Opera presents an imaginative double bill: L'enfant et les sortilèges by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) and The Zoo by Arthur Sullivan (1842-1900) in a fully-staged production performed with an 18-piece orchestra at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue). Utopia founder and artistic director, William Remmers, conducts L'enfant and directs both operas, while Jeremy Weissmann conducts The Zoo; both operas have costume styling by Eric Lamp.
