AUSTIN VAHLE (Director). Austin is a freelance director who has performed, stage managed, choreographed, and directed within a variety of community, collegiate, regional and professional theatres. Directing and/or choreography credits include: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Little Shop of Horrors, White Christmas (Woodford Theatre), Love, Broadway: A Benefit Concert, The Yellow Boat, Shrek the Musical (EJHS), The Hundred Dresses, Jungalbook (Western Kentucky University), Mean Girls, Junie B. Jones and Annie (Arts+), Fame and The Frog Prince (SKyPAC Youth Theatre) and The Little Mermaid. Favorable performance credits: Wizard of Oz (Tinman), The Prom (Sheldon), The Odd Couple (Vinnie), Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse(Wilson) Finding the Sun (Fergus). Following his own performance career, Austin now enjoys creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation of theatre artisans. Austin has worked with Lexington Children's Theatre as a Teaching Artist, Woodford Theatre, Distilled Theatre Company, the WKU Theatre for Young Audiences programming, as well as with multiple school theatre programs/troupes across the state of Kentucky. In 2022, Austin was named one of the finalists and received an Honorable Mention for the Excellence in Theatre Education Award, presented by the Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University.
