CHURCH & STATE Comes to Stage West This Month
A political candidate sharing his raw feelings about a hot button issue with the voting public during a campaign rally: what could possibly go wrong? It’s risky business, in Jason Odell Willliams’ timely political comedy-with-a-twist Church & State, which begins a 4-week regional premiere run on Thursday, January 27 in the Jerry Russell Theatre at Stage West.
BWW Review: NOISES OFF at Theatre Three
Before the The Play That Goes Wrong there was Noises Off. There are few directors, designers, and actors that can take on this incredibly difficult work. The comedic timing must be perfectly executed, the set has to change into two different sets between acts, and it is very physically demanding. Theatre Three's production has mastered it. The opening night audience of Noises Off were left completely sore from laughter. I am happy to say it was one of the most hilarious productions I have seen here in DFW. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the classic, Noises Off by Michael Frayn is about a group of actors who are rehearsing the play Nothing On. Broken into 3 acts the actors rehearse the play in Act 1, perform it in Act 2 (shown from backstage), and performing again Act 3. The characters in this show are completely dysfunctional from who is sleeping with whom, drinking problems, divorces, etc. It's a proper madhouse set for disaster.
Theatre Three Puts Texas Twist On Farce Favorite NOISES OFF
They say all the world is a stage, but perhaps the drama behind-the-scenes is where the real story is at. Up next at Theatre Three is Michael Frayn's hilarious door slamming farce, NOISES OFF. Directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni, the smash hit comedy opens November 29 and runs through December 22. Tickets are on sale at www.Theatre3Dallas.com.
HOLMES AND WATSON Are On The Case At Stage West
Sherlock Holmes is dead-he died in a struggle with his nemesis, Professor Moriarty, as both went over the edge of the cliff at Reichenbach Falls. Or did he? The plot is definitely about to thicken, as Stage West presents the regional premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's Holmes and Watson, in a 5-week regional premiere run at Stage West beginning Thursday, May 30.

Photo Flash: First Look at ADDING MACHINE at Theatre Three
Darkly comic and heartbreakingly beautiful, Adding Machine, a musical adaptation of Elmer Rice's incendiary 1923 play, tells the story of Mr. Zero, who after 25 years of service to his company is replaced by a mechanical adding machine.

It's 1950, and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. The problem: They are both gay, and have married each other's partners as a carefully constructed cover. Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the gay rights movement, madcap classic sitcom-style laughs give way to provocative drama as two "All-American" couples are forced to stare down the closet door. Performances are August 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, September 1, 2 at 8 PM; August 27 at 2 PM. Columbus Performing Arts Center, Van Fleet Theatre, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. Video: First Look at LA HAVANA MADRID at Goodman Theatre
On the heels of critically-acclaimed sold-out runs at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Miracle Center in Logan Square, Teatro Vista's La Havana Madrid by Sandra Delgado arrives at Goodman Theatre for an extended summer run, July 21 - August 20. Chicago's fabled 1960s nightclub, La Havana Madrid, comes bursting back to life in 'an immersive, wholly enjoyable experience' (Chicago Reader) complete with live music and 'enough dancing and bonhomie to tempt you away from your little table down front' (Chicago Tribune). Directed by Teatro Vista ensemble member Cheryl Lynn Bruce, the production was inspired by true stories of Cuban, Puerto Rican and Colombian immigrants who found refuge in the nightclub. Delgado leads the eight-member cast (a full list appears below) as a mystical woman who conjures stories and vibrant songs performed live onstage each night by Colombian-American musician Roberto 'Carpacho' Marin and his band of 30 years, Carpacho y Su Super Combo.
