Ash Patlan (born Ashley Karen Patlan) was born in Los Angeles, California and soon moved to Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 1. After seeing a production of West Side Story at the award-winning Hillcrest High School in Midvale, Utah, Ash grew passionate for the theatre and soon joined the school's resident musical theatre company, Productions. Upon entering her senior year at Hillcrest High School, Ash was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Undeterred with having to balance fighting cancer and performing, Ash continued going to school, regularly attended rehearsals, and performed in 4 school productions all while undergoing 12 rounds of intense chemotherapy. Upon remission and high school graduation, Ash attended Southern Utah University and later transferred to the University of Utah to join the Actor Training Program in 2013. Ash went on to perform in many plays at the U, including As You Like It, The Three Sisters, Arcadia, Up: The Man in The Flying Chair, and also originated the role of 3rd Queen/Barbary in Tim Slover's Two Noble Kinsmen (as part of Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play On! Series). Ash was awarded apprenticeship at Pioneer Theatre Company in 2017 and understudied the roles of Judy/Voice One in the regional premiere of The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-time. Ash graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in the Acting Training Program in the Spring of 2018. Ash served as an acting apprentice in the Professional Training Company at Actors Theatre of Louisville for the 2018-2019 Season. She performed in several productions, including Mara Nelson-Greenberg's And We're Live!, Halfway, The Wilting, and Fifth Third Bank's A Christmas Carol. Most recently, Ash has played the Part of Arden/Ensemble in We've Come To Believe, as part of the 43rd Humana Festival of New American Plays. Ash has also tried her hand at playwriting, as she has written and performed her one act play, MAYFLOWER, at Actors Theatre of Louisville in late 2018. MAYFLOWER depicts the life of a young undocumented immigrant in her preparations for the perilous pilgrimage to the United States in hopes of freedom, a better life, and the mirage of the American Dream. MAYFLOWER has since been published in early 2019, along with several other pieces in 10-minute play Anthology, Actors Theatre of Louisville: The Professional Training Company's 2018 Solo Mio Collection.
