From Wednesday, March 20 through Thursday, March 28, BAM teams up with online magazine Triple Canopy to present BAM and Triple Canopy: On Resentment, a wide-ranging series of daring works that explore cinema as a potent vehicle for expressing and exploring resentment. While recent discourse has frequently centered on feelings of marginalization among working class white men, On Resentment examines resentment as it intersects with issues of class, race, gender, sexuality, and land. A component of Triple Canopy's current issue—which asks pressing questions about the role resentment plays in society and art, and who is afforded the right to resentment—the film series highlights the specific potency of cinema as a vehicle for oppressed voices to air grievances, bring attention to injustice, and effect change.
Palm Springs International Film Festival Announces Festival Line-Up

The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4. The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019. The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.

Austin Film Festival (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing writers' and filmmakers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today that The Front Runner will serve as the fest's Closing Night selection. Directed by Academy Award®-nominee and AFF alum Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air), The Front Runner stars Hugh Jackman as the charismatic politician Gary Hart, who was considered the overwhelming front-runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination when his campaign was sidelined by the story of an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice. The Front Runnerwill bow in Austin on November 1 with Reitman in attendance.
