Arthur Rubin (June 16, 1926 – July 22, 2023)
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Gold Card Manager Arthur Rubin. Arthur came into membership in February of 1962.
Arthur Rubin, 97, died peacefully surrounded by his loving children: Ronnie and Anne, Alan and Jane. He had a long and distinguished career in the entertainment industry, both as a singer-actor on Broadway & in films and in theater management. He adored and loved his grandchildren Jonathan (Kristen), Erica (Mike) and Daniel (Gabby) and his great grandchildren Ezra, Miles and Sabine.
Arthur began his professional career singing with the Radio City Music Hall Glee Club. Numerous Broadway credits as a performer include the original Broadway casts of Two on the Aisle, Can-Can, Silk Stockings, The Most Happy Fella (where he introduced the song “Abbondanza”), At the Grand, Juno, Kean, Here's Love; the Lincoln Center/NY Philharmonic concert version of Follies; Happy Birthday, Mr. Abbott!, benefitting The Actors' Fund of America; and the Mel Brooks films The Producers and Robin Hood: Men in Tights as the singing voice of Robin Hood).
His diverse career included stints as a stage manager on Broadway (including The Music Man, Greenwillow, and West Side Story); house manager (Lunt-Fontanne, Mark Hellinger, Biltmore); and producer (the 1981 revival of Can-Can, La Tragedie de Carmen, Doug Henning & His World of Magic, the 1987 revival of Sweet Charity; the Broadway engagements of Shirley Bassey, Smokey Robinson, Mort Sahl, Kenny Loggins, Barry Manilow, and Peter, Paul & Mary.
Having managed the Mark Hellinger Theatre and the Lunt-Fontanne during the 1960s and early 1970s, Arthur joined the Nederlander Organization as General Manager in 1975, ultimately serving as Vice-President until his retirement in 1993.

I was fortunate to see the Cirio Collective on Monday, June 24, 2017, a part of the Joyce Theater's Ballet Festival, July 18 - 29. Drawn to see the company of extraordinary American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Jeffrey Cirio, the artistic director of his own company, I was not disappointed. Cirio's associate artistic director is his sister, Lia Cirio, principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, also a remarkable dancer.
