Moms-in-Film, an organization founded to energize the careers of mothers in film and television by providing community, funding and advocacy, is celebrating its one-year anniversary at The Players on April 18, 2017 at 7pm. The Bi-coastal organization is honoring filmmaker (and mother) Marielle Heller, whose upcoming film CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME stars Melissa McCarthy. Entertainment will include songs from rising Broadway star Kat Cunning and special remarks from Emily Bergl (SHAMELESS, SOUTHLAND, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), David Paterson (BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA) and Ana Asensio (SXSW jury award winner: MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND).

Nate Parker and The Birth of a Nation Team Announce New Fellowship for Young Filmmakers
Nate Parker and the cast, Producers, and Executive Producers of The Birth of a Nation are investing in the next generation of diverse independent creativity with the Sundance Institute | The Birth of a Nation Fellowship for 18-to-24-year-old filmmakers participating in the Institute's Ignite program. Parker shared details at Sundance Institute's NIGHT BEFORE NEXT benefit at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles this evening, where he also received the Institute's annual Vanguard Award presented to him by actor and Sundance alum Michael B. Jordan. Parker's The Birth of a Nation was supported by the Institute's renowned Feature Film Program for three years before its premiere, and won both the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

New Georges will celebrate its anniversary season with the World Premiere of Hilary Bettis' Alligator, directed by Elena Araoz, presented in collaboration with The Sol Project this fall, and of Sheila Callaghan and Daniella Topol's collaboratively-created Water at 3LD Art & Technology Center in June of 2017 as part of Water City, a multi-disciplinary art event.

Sundance Institute has announced the 13 projects selected for its annual June Directors and Screenwriters Labs, taking place at the Sundance Resort in Utah from today, May 28 through June 28. Under the leadership of Michelle Satter, Founding Director of the Institute's Feature Film Program, and the artistic direction of Gyula Gazdag, the projects selected for this year's program include emerging filmmakers and projects from the United States, Italy, Romania, Australia, Algeria, France, Chile and the UK.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's production of WAR HORSE, presented by Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett, is now in previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street). WAR HORSE is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Nick Stafford, with Handspring Puppet Company, and directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris. Opening night is Thursday, April 14 at 7:00 pm.
