PAAL Summit At The Public, TheaterMatters Artists-And-Critics Review Panel Announced At HERE
Parent Artist Advocacy League for the Performing Arts (PAAL) is partnering with The Public Theater in New York City to present the first national summit on parent support in the performing arts. Lead facilitators from various theatre companies, organizations, and professions will engage in semi-open facilitation with summit participants on a range of topics including: cost-effective financial benefits to childcare stipends, budgeting for childcare, hiring laws, compliance, family leave, and more. The PAAL Summit will provide performing arts leaders with an intimate and safe space for active discussion, resource exchange, and concept generation. The PAAL National Handbook on Caregiver Support will guide the sessions, including the handbook's research into needs and solutions for both administrative and creative roles, original case studiesa?"including the Radical Parent-Inclusion (RPI) Project, which was co-led by PAAL and The Playwrights Realm, and data from the PAAL National Childcare Grant program on how affordable stipends for childcare can make a sustainable impact.

Due to popular demand, Elevator Repair Service, the Obie-award winning company that brought you Gatz ("the most remarkable achievement in theater of the decade" according to The New York Times), is pleased to extend the world premiere of Everyone's Fine with Virginia Woolf, a new play written by longtime company member Kate Scelsa and directed by Elevator Repair Service Artistic Director John Collins, to June 30. Preview performances began on June 1 and the production is set to open on June 12.

Mike Iveson Sci-Fi World Premiere to Play The Kitchen in May
The Kitchen is pleased to present The Tear Drinkers, the second musical work from beloved performer and Bessie-Award-winning composer Mike Iveson. The Tear Drinkers is a suite of sci-fi songs for six performers and piano; it follows four humans who have been abducted by the United States government and brought to an underground holding tank in New Mexico, so that the government can determine which of them is actually an alien from another planet masquerading as an earthling. Downtown performer Mike Iveson leads a team of exceptional artists, including pioneering video artist Charles Atlas, in a look at the private heartaches and private bathroom rituals of humans and aliens alike.

Due to popular demand, The Public Theater announced a second and final two-week extension for Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed THE SOUND AND THE FURY. Chosen as a New York Times Critics' Pick, THE SOUND AND THE FURY began performances in The Public's Martinson Theater on Thursday, May 14 and was originally extended to Saturday, June 27. Directed by John Collins, the show will now run an additional two weeks through Sunday, July 12. THE SOUND AND THE FURY marks the third collaboration between The Public and Elevator Repair Service, having previously presented Gatz and Arguendo.
