Anthony Paul Gilkinson returned to his hometown of Tampa, Florida in April 2011. During his Seattle years, Tony was a singing member, choreographer and member of the dance corps for one of the largest gay choral organizations in the United States, Seattle Men’s Chorus. Tony also founded and performed with Seattle vocal quintet, The BEARatones. Under Tony’s direction, the group enjoyed a lot of success over the years with original shows like Singing In Our Underpants and My Fuzzy Valentine, which both played to sold-out audiences.
Since returning to Tampa, he has directed exclusively for mad Theatre of Tampa. Past productions include Avenue Q, Nunsense A-Men!, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Next to Normal, [title of show], Spring Awakening, Company and It Shoulda Been You. In 2020, Tony accepted the role as Artistic Director for mad Theatre of Tampa in addition to his professional Learning & Development career.
Tony is currently directing Falsettos for mad Theatre of Tampa which runs February 3 - 19, 2023 at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts' Shimberg Playhouse in Downtown Tampa, Florida.
