Adventurous Indie Theatre Collective Premiers Sexy And Elliptical New Play By Canadian Poet And Playwright
This December, Pencil Kit Productions premiers The Hungriest Woman in the World by Toronto poet-playwright Shannon Bramer. Just in time for the holiday season (and the holiday blues), The Hungriest Woman in the World follows a woman who inadvertently escapes from the confused loneliness of her real life into an audacious, seductive world of theatre and art. Her evening at the theatre tumbles into absurdity with dancing octopuses, overly intimate strangers and drunken mistakes.
LARK Quartet to Premiere 2 Works & Celebrate 30 Years
On May 1, 2017 at 8pm, the LARK Quartet will present a celebratory concert at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in New York City. LARK Quartet: Now & Then celebrates the past and present of The LARK String Quartet through music old and new with its present and original members. In keeping with the tradition of LARK to broaden the chamber music repertory through diverse commissions, they perform the world premiere of Andrew Waggoner's String Octet Ce morceau de tissue and the New York premiere of John Harbison's String Quartet No. 6. The harmonic and textural modernity of the Debussy String Quartet (1893), as well as the Presto from Mendelssohn's Octet (1825), bridge the premieres.
