BWW Reviews: Stark Naked Theatre's ALL GIRLS is a Moving Production that Resonates with Humor and Heartbreak

Stark Naked Theatre Company, notorious for producing new and relevant work in the Houston area, is kicking off their 2013-2014 season with a Houston regional premier of ALL GIRLS by up-and-coming playwright Anna Greenfield. Any grown woman can recall the uncertainties and trauma of girlhood. Gender aside, anyone can recall pivotal moments of their adolescence, such as being teased or longing to belong. ALL GIRLS is a hilarious and moving play that centers on three teenage girls as they struggle through adolescence and with all of the complexities of female friendships.
BWW Interviews: Stark Naked Theatre Talks ALL GIRLS

Anna Greenfield is an emerging American playwright. Her play ALL GIRLS garnered a lot of recognition during its initial New York City run produced by Horse Trade Theater Group at New York City's Kraine Theater. The play is described as being "a hyper real and sometimes surreal play about three teenage girls and one colossally scary mother. Trembling on the brink of womanhood, the girls act out with one another and their families in the most outrageous ways imaginable." In the height of technical rehearsals, I digitally conversed with playwright Anna Greenfield, Susannah Eig (Morgan), Victoria Villarreal (Claude), Amy Michele Mire (Jenny), Kim Tobin (Mrs. Gray), and director Julia Traber about the upcoming Houston regional premiere of ALL GIRLS.

Written by up-and-coming New York-based actor and playwright Anna Greenfield, the play was well-received by audiences and critics alike in its world premiere earlier this year at New York's Kraine Theatre. Previewing October 10th, opening October 11th and running until October 26th, performances will be held Thursdays through Sundays (with a special "Pay What You Can" performance on October 21st) at STUDIO 101 located at Spring Street Studios, 1824 Spring St. in Houston, TX 77007.
