Enjoying success early in his career by composing Italian operas, towards the middle of the 18th century George Frideric Handel instead turned his attention to English oratorios. One of his more well-known works, Solomon, was recently performed as part of the 2022 BBC Proms – Sofi Jeannin conducted specialist orchestra The English Concert, with Iestyn Davies, Anna Dennis, Wallis Giunta, Benjamin Hulett, and Ashley Riches in solo roles. This performance continues the Proms’ sequence of Handel oratorios.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Announces 2017 Baroque Chamber Music Series

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble is adding a two-program Baroque Series to its winter and spring 2017 season. These concerts will be presented at Brooklyn Museum and The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, the acoustically and architecturally notable Greenwich Village church where St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble first performed in 1974 and from which the Ensemble derives its name.

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the schedule for Lincoln Center's sixth White Light Festival, running from October 14 through November 22, 2015. The multidisciplinary Festival, which takes its name from a quotation by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, is focused on the remarkable power of art to reveal the many dimensions of our interior lives. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 26 performances and events, featuring one world and five U.S. premieres and debuts by artists and companies from the United States, the U.K., Croatia, Belgium, France, and Ireland. Other Festival components include pre- and post-performance artist discussions, a panel discussion, film, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges, where performers and audience members can gather.
