BWW Review: CHOIR BOY Sings With Spirited Soul at THE BIRMINGHAM BLACK REPERTORY THEATRE COMPANY
The Birmingham Black Repertory Theatre Company steps to the plate with fierceness and momentum in its inaugural performance of the Tony award winning musical a?oeChoir Boy.a?? This coming of age musical delivers a layered structure backed up with dynamic acting, and vocals from a cast of young men of color. The subjects of class, race and sexuality are exposed with extremely emotional results.
Polarity Ensemble Theatre Closes Its Doors
Polarity Ensemble Theatre has closed its doors for good. The company, incorporated in 2004, was known for developing and producing new work by local playwrights and for innovative productions of classics. Polarity mounted 22 full length productions, 10 of which were world premiere scripts developed in the company's DIONYSOS CUP FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS series. The company also published five books, some of which will remain in print.

Kokandy Productions presents BONNIE & CLYDE
Kokandy Productions is pleased to continue its 5th anniversary season with the Chicago premiere of BONNIE & CLYDE, the musical story of two small-town nobodies searching for meaning at the height of the Great Depression from the creative team of Frank Wildhorn, Ivan Menchell and Don Black. Directed by Spencer Neiman, with music direction by Kory Danielson and choreography by Aubrey Adams, BONNIE & CLYDE will play August 27 - October 15, 2017 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.
Jeff Awards 2017 Non-Equity Nominations Announced
The Jeff Awards announced, via a special video presentation, a total of 127 nominations in 26 categories for the 44th Annual Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017. Hosting the video presentation were Alexis Roston and Lillian Castillo, who will be this year's Mistresses of Ceremonies at the Awards event on June 5 at The Athenaeum.
Strawdog Theatre Company Announces New Staff, Board and Company Members
Co-Artistic Directors Michael Dailey, Heath Hays and Anderson Lawfer are proud to announce the addition of eight new company members to Strawdog Theatre's ensemble including Chelsea Wilson, board president; Leah Barish, managing director; Virginia Head, director of individual giving; Cara Beth Heath, literary manager and Kamille Dawkins, Ashley Ann Woods, Raquel Adorno and Elly Green, ensemble members.

To accommodate extraordinary ticket demand, Lifeline Theatre announces seventeen added performances of its Jeff Recommended and critically-acclaimed production of Miss Holmes, a new play by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Christopher M. Walsh (Non-Equity Jeff nomination: New Adaptation, A Tale of Two Cities), and directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Paul S. Holmquist (Non-Equity Jeff Award: Best Production-Play, The Island of Dr. Moreau; Non-Equity Jeff nomination: Director-Musical, The Robber Bridegroom, Griffin Theatre), inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
