MainStreet Theatre Company has announced their first production of 2014: The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, a fun- filled musical adaptation of the beloved book by JefF Brown. Kevin Cochran is the director, with choreography by Lisa Hopkins and Musical Direction by Janice Rodgers Wainwright. The production will play two school performances today, January 31st, and open to the public on Saturday, February 1st at 4pm. The strictly limited engagement will run through Sunday, February 16 only.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, continues this season's 'Words Within' Wednesday night play reading series with four free, one-night-only readings this summer at its Pasadena theatre: THE HEIRESS by RUTH AND Augustus Goetz, based on the 1880 Henry James novel Washington Square, tonight June 5, 2013, 7 pm; THE GHOST SONATA by August Strindberg, considered one of the world's greatest modern playwrights, on June 19, 7pm; GALILEO, a timeless classic by BERTOLD BRECHT on July 24, 7 pm; and LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT by EUGENE O'NEILL on August 14, 7 pm. The readings feature A Noise Within resident artists as well as artists from the theatre company's current repertory productions.

Rolly is a typical kid whose boring summer vacation turns into a terrific adventure when he stumbles on the past and ends up in 10th Century France. There he encounters Princess Aurora, a feisty 12 year old girl who longs to be a knight and travel the world. Aurora's parents don't let her leave the castle walls because of a secret curse that was put on her when she was born. Despite all their protection, Aurora pricks her finger on a spindle and the curse comes to pass - she sleeps for a thousand years. Rolly, back in the present, finds the sleeping Aurora and wakes her up. The two friends are reunited and Aurora gets to discover the world outside the castle at last!
