New England Conservatory President Andrea Kalyn and the Board of Trustees have announced composer, trombonist, and musicologist George E. Lewis as commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient at the Conservatory's 152nd annual commencement exercises which will be held in-person on Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. ET. This is NEC's largest graduating class in the school's history.

On Thursday, February 4, at noon, the BSO NOW concert streaming platform will launch the first of four archival programs, featuring artists who enjoyed especially close relationships with the orchestra. Michael Tilson Thomas Will Receive Honorary Doctorate From Cleveland Institute Of Music

The Cleveland Institute of Music announced yesterday that acclaimed conductor, composer and educator Michael Tilson Thomas will be awarded an honorary doctorate at the school's 95th Commencement Ceremony in Kulas Hall on Saturday, May 16 at 10am EDT. Attendance is by invitation only, but a live stream will be available via cim.edu. Yesterday's announcement was given at a special MTT-led rehearsal of the CIM Orchestra at Severance Hall, home of The Cleveland Orchestra, which MTT also conducts February 20-23.

Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI)-one of North America's premier summer training programs for young musicians-announces its 2019 programs and events. The 2019 BUTI season takes place at Tanglewood, on the BUTI campus in Lenox, MA, and in Boston June 17-August 10, 2019. It features concert and recital programming throughout the Berkshires; workshops led by distinguished performers and teachers from Boston University College of Fine Arts, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), and Visiting Artists; and rich programs of learning and performance for students ages 10-20. Led by Executive Director Hilary Field Respass, BUTI is the only program of its kind associated with one of the world's great symphony orchestras, the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Two alumni from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) Talent Development Program (TDP) and the ASO Assistant Concertmaster were recently invited to perform at the prestigious, international Classical/Pops Festival taking place on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Talent Development Program alumnus Keanu Mitanga (violin, 2014) and TDP alumna Katherine Algarra (double bass, 2008) will perform at the two-day music festival this weekend, December 12-14, 2014.
