The Honens International Piano Competition has announced the 2022 edition schedule, which was postponed from 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 50 Quarterfinalists chosen to participate in the Competition remain in place for 2022, as will the juries and collaborating artists, where possible. Quarterfinalists hail from 18 different countries.

Fifty pianists from 18 countries have been chosen to compete in the Quarterfinals of Canada's tenth Honens International Piano Competition, despite the challenges presented by a global pandemic. The Applicant Screening Jury evaluated 130 candidate submissions based on proposed Competition programming, experience relative to age, and reference letters.
Artist Series Concerts Welcomes Award-Winning Cellist Zlatomir Fung
Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents cellist Zlatomir Fung, the first of three rising young stars coming to Sarasota from Young Concert Artists International, the non-profit agency that's helped launch the careers of such greats as Pinchas Zukerman, Emanuel Ax, Dawn Upshaw and many others. Fresh off his win at the recent International Tchaikovsky Competition a?" considered by many to be the a?oeOlympics of classical musica?? - Fung is well on his way to international stardom. In celebration of Beethoven's 250th anniversary and in a cello tour de force, Fung and pianist Angie Zhang will perform two separate all-Beethoven programs, covering the variations and all five sonatas for cello and piano, staples of the cello repertoire that essentially depict the full life story of the famed composer. The two performances, sponsored by Artist Series Concerts FRIENDS, take place on November 2, 7:30 p.m. and November 3, 3:00 p.m., at the Historic Asolo Theater, 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota. Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota recently announced the winners of the 2017 National Piano Competition. The competition rotates each year between, piano, voice and string instruments and is open to talented young musicians who are residents of the United States. The finals were held April 29 at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center in Sarasota. A total of $21,600 was awarded to eight contestants. Scroll down for photos!

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, presents New Dances: Edition 2016 featuring four world-premiere dances by choreographers John Heginbotham (First-Year Dancers), Katarzyna Skarpetowska, (Second-Year Dancers), Pam Tanowitz (Third-Year Dancers), and Matthew Neenan (Fourth-Year Dancers). Heginbotham and Skarpetowska are Juilliard alums, and Tanowitz and Neenan are returning as New Dances choreographers.
