PILGRIMS Comes to West Of Lenin This May
Forward Flux Productions is thrilled to present PILGRIMS by Claire Kiechel, playing at West of Lenin from May 1st - 19th. This play was workshopped in our Studio for four weeks last year, and we are excited to remount it as a full production for its West Coast premiere. During our Studio workshop, there were 5 public performances where audiences were invited to provide insight and thoughts after each performance. These insights were shared with the playwright, who also visited Seattle to watch the production in person. It has since world premiered at The Gift Theatre in Chicago where it was a pick by the Chicago Sun Times, and Perform Ink said it is 'relevant, funny, confusing, heartbreaking, uncomfortable, and beautiful.' Playwright Claire Kiechel has also written SOME DARK PLACES OF THE EARTH and NORWAY, and she is a writer on the upcoming second season of Netflix's 'The OA.'
BWW Review: WET's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN Examines Privilege but Takes the Long Way Around
As you enter the theater for Washington Ensemble Theatre's Straight White Men , currently playing at 12th Ave Arts, you are greeted with Hip Hop music with questionable lyrics amped up to the point that you can feel the bass in your filings. You're told at the outset of the show that the reason for this is to take away the privilege of being comfortable from most in the audience who wouldn't care for that. What follows is Young Jean Lee's overly stereotypical and clich examination of four straight white men and their privilege. So, I can only assume seeing an interesting play with a point was also a privilege we were denied.

BWW Review: SNOWGLOBED at West of Lenin is Bad Kitsch
Full disclosure: I had to emotionally prepare myself for 'SnowGlobed' because, admittedly, I find most holiday pieces saccharine and disingenuous. Although collectively 'SnowGlobed's five short plays were irreverent and dark-which resonates with me much more, being the Grinch that I am-unfortunately, most of the plays did not impact me in a satisfying way.
