Classical WSMR To Broadcast Past Productions Of Sarasota Opera
Six popular Sarasota Opera past productions will be broadcast on Classical WSMR radio beginning Saturday, October 23rd at 1pm Eastern Time: Verdi's Otello (2012), D'Albert's Tiefland (2018) on October 30th, Puccini's La bohème (2020) on November 6th, Montemezzi's The Love of Three Kings (L'amore dei tre rei) (2017) on November 13th, and more.
Sarasota Opera Adds Matinee To Fall Season Performances
By popular demand, an additional “Live from the Sarasota Opera House” concert featuring favorite opera selections by Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Wagner, and Mozart, accompanied by piano, is now scheduled for Sunday, November 15th at 1:30 pm.
Sarasota Opera To Present Special Fall Season Performances
Sarasota Opera will not be silent this fall, with a series of performances now scheduled to include the first live-streamed concert from Sarasota Opera House and two live outdoor performances at the Downtown Sarasota and Historic Spanish Point locations of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

THE MAGIC FLUTE Opens February 16th At Sarasota Opera
Three noble chords begin the Magic Flute, followed by a playful melody that frolics through the orchestra in one of Mozart's most popular overtures. Enchantment awaits as the noble Prince Tamino accompanied by only a magic flute and a bumbling birdcatcher is sent by the mysterious Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter, a princess held captive by a sorcerer. However, nothing is quite as it appears, and the dazzling musical adventure takes many twists and turns along its way to happily ever after. Last seen in 2010, The Magic Flute opens Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 7:30pm as the second opera in the Winter 2019 Festival.
Sarasota Opera Opens 60th Season on February 9th
Sarasota Opera will celebrate its 60th Season when the 2019 Winter Opera Festival opens on February 9th with Puccini's Turandot. The festival will continue with Mozart's The Magic Flute, Verdi's Nabucco, and the premiere of a rare and delightful comic double bill: Donizetti's Rita (Two Men and a Woman) and Wolf-Ferrari's Susanna's Secret. Special events, lectures, recitals, and concerts continue through the season. Capping off the festivities will be the Diamond Anniversary recital and dinner on April 5th.

Story has it, inspired by a performance Verdi saw of Alexander Dumas fils's The Lady of the Camellias, he immediately started to pen La traviata. David Guzman, who was originally scheduled to sing the role, has withdrawn from the production due to illness.

Opera North Announces Cast and Creatives for DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT
LEBANON, NH – Opera North is pleased to announce the principal roles for Daughter of the Regiment, one of its three 2016 mainstage productions. The role of Marie will be shared by Martha Eason and Lindsay Ohse; the role of Tonio will be shared by Martin Clark and Andrew Surrena; the role of The Marquise of Birkenfeld will be shared by Natalie Rose Havens and Heather Gallagher; and Alex Soare will play Sergeant Sulpice. In addition, Maureen Brennan will appear as the Duchess of Krakenthorp.
