Alberta Theatre Projects, celebrating 49 years this coming season, is airing the seventh and final reading of their 2021 Playwrights Projects on Friday May 28th 2021 over Zoom. The company is known for original plays and adaptations of Canadian works, pulling from artists all over the country. I sat down with Interim Executive Director (formerly General Manager) Kyle Russell to talk about how the company has navigated the leap to digital media.
Alberta Theatre Projects Announces PLAYWRIGHTS PROJECTS 2020
Alberta Theatre Projects is thrilled to announce Playwrights Projects 2020, two weeks of concurrent digital workshops of three new Canadian plays, from June 8 to June 20, 2020. The initiative features Undressed by Louise Casemore, Boom Baby by Natalie Meisner, and a new adaptation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan by Andrew Scanlon.
ALBERTA THEATRE PROJECTS Presents Their 2020-21 Season
Alberta Theatre Projects has announced their 49th season line-up, which will run from September 2020 to May 2021. The season will feature a made-in-Calgary world premiere, a ground-breaking Shakespeare adaptation, two hit Canadian plays, a high-flying family adventure, and a gritty, immersive music theatre masterpiece, and four different seating configurations.
Knockout Cast Announced For ROCKY: THE MUSICAL In Ontario
Drayton Entertainment announces casting for Rocky: The Musical. This adrenaline-fueled musical based on Sylvester Stallone's Academy© Award-winning film will launch the 2019 Season at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge. The production will run for four weeks from March 6 to March 31.
Dream The Impossible Dream With MAN OF LA MANCHA In Cambridge
The 2018 Season continues on high note this fall with the epic Broadway musical Man of La Mancha on stage at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge (formerly Dunfield Theatre Cambridge) from October 10 to November 4. This timeless tale of love and redemption starring Artistic Director Alex Mustakas as Don Quixote is sure to enthrall audiences with its enchanting melodies and grand theatrical transformations.
Carrie: The Musical to be Presented as Benefit for Actors' Fund Monday
Carrie: The Musical - a one-night benefit concert will be performed in support of the Actors' Fund of Canada at St. Michael's College School Centre for the Arts in Toronto at 8 p.m. on Monday November 16th. Tickets are only $20. The event is being produced by Yes Theatre, Lili Connor, Alessandro Costantini, and Thomas Alderson.
BWW Review: Toronto Says 'YEAH' To Kinky Boots
There's a party happening every day at The Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto - and that party is the Canadian production of Kinky Boots which opened Sunday night. The mostly Canadian cast, save for American newcomer Alan Mingo Jr. as Lola earned a standing ovation from the opening night audience.
