Shiv Mehra isn't one for basking in the spoils of downtime and open schedules — that's why he created Heaven's Club. The Deafheaven guitarist is inching into territory with this project, a hopscotching fusion of contemporary/kraut rock, jazzy percussion, reverb-drenched riffage, and overdub cloaked vocals.

FURY (Run For Cover) Share New Single MONO NO AWARE, Announce North American Tour
FURY have established themselves quickly. They built on the melodic legacy of Orange County by way of heavy, rhythmic, start-stop guitars and frontman, Jeremy Stith's wordy, referential and poetic lyrics. Today they release their latest single, 'Mono No Aware' which came to fruition after a conversation Stith had about Japanese Cherry Blossoms. He explains, 'the idea Mono No Aware is a Japanese term for the awareness of impermanence, something that I've thought about every day since in some way or another and has helped guide me where I need to go.'
FURY Share New Video and Single VACATION
FURY hit us with their new video and single, 'Vacation' which debuted over at Heavy Consequence on Consequence of Sound. Lyrically on 'Vacation', frontman Jeremy Stith references Harry Dean Stanton's discussion of 'predestination and each humans' capabilities and their place in the world' Stith explains. 'It's about how we will do what we do, and the outcomes will be what they will, and as much choice as we might have in the big scheme of things, the fact is just like earth, humans weren't here at one point, then we were, and soon we won't be anymore. Vacation is about grief and what comes along with it -- the denial, anger and the bargaining in situations where you come up short. We can only hope for acceptance that we are nothing, and Love is everything.'

Cygnet Theatre Dives Beneath the Surface with THE WHALE
Cygnet Theatre literally ends Season 12 in a BIG way with the San Diego premiere of The Whale. Emerging playwright Samuel D. Hunter's (The Few) big hearted and humorously touching play features a six hundred pound recluse whose issues from his past have brought him to a crisis in the present. This smart and subversive tale features sharp, provocative language and finds heart in challenging situations. The Whale begins previews on May 14. It opens on May 23 and runs through June 14.
