Andrew Coopman (they/he) is a genderqueer director, choreographer, playwright, devisor, performer, and teaching artist of Middle Eastern/European descent. Their work has been on stages around the country in cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, and all over the Puget Sound area. Andrew is also one of the 2022-23 Drama League FutureNow Directing Fellowship recipients.
A recent graduate of the Masters of Fine Arts in Directing program at the University of Washington School of Drama, Andrew directed everything from Sophie Treadwell's MACHINAL to LeAnne Howe's SAVAGE CONVERSATIONS to Annie Baker's BODY AWARENESS. For their thesis production, Andrew adapted, designed, and directed an online performance of Henrik Ibsen's ROSMERSHOLM. They also hold a Masters of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University - Steinhardt.

With a fierce commitment to new work, Andrew participated as a leading producer with The Scratch - Seattle Workshop Series where he co-facilitated and co-created the Playwriting from Scratch Program, and directed two original play readings by the early career playwrights. Additionally, Andrew’s devised work RE:SOCIAL/DIVIDE, written collaboratively online with international performers, was presented by Cooperative Performance in Milwaukee, WI.
