Just when you thought it was safe to return to the Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) for a weekly dose of free comedy at The Last Hurrah, the team returns for one last stab at a real horror show. On Nov 2nd at 7pm The Last Hurrah goes metal as host Kevin Cole sits down with Landless Theatre's Artistic Director and Sweeney Todd himself, Andrew Baughman, and the creative team behind their production A Prog Metal Sweeney Todd, Melissa Baughman (Director), and Ray Shaw (Bassist/arranger) to discuss what it takes to put a hard rock spin on a Sondheim classic.

Hope Operas, DC's only serialized theatre festival, returns this October with five BRAND NEW SHOWS. Join us Monday nights in October at the Comedy Spot as we present five original plays in ten- to fifteen-minute episodes with the theme District of the Damned! Our 2014 season is filled with thrills and chills to satisfy your inner ghoul. Each week, we'll take you from one hilarious horror to the next. And each show competes for the crowd's support to win top dollar for our worthy causes! Even though there's a new episode of each show every week don't worry if you miss a week, at the top of each episode there's a recap of the show so far.

Speaking with The New York Times, Landless' producing artist director, Andrew Baughman, confirmed that Sondheim had given the company the go-ahead to stage a 'Prog Metal' edition of the famous musical at the Undercroft Theater this summer.

The New Mel Brook's Musical Young Frankenstein will open at the Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg this weekend and features over twenty performers in the area premiere musical adaptation of Mel Brook's horror movie spoof.
Directed by Terri Magers, musically directed by Allison Shaffer and choreographed by Shannen Banzhoff, Young Frankenstein is based on the Mel Brook's cult classic 1974 film of the same name.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is kicking off its 2012-13, 15th anniversary mainstage season with The 39 Steps. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This 2-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! MET Associate Artistic Director Gene' Fouche' directs Patrick Barlow's adaptation of John Buchan's 1915 novel and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock which opened on Broadway in 2008 and won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. The show which The New York Times called, 'theatre at its finest' and the New York Post raved was, 'the most entertaining show on Broadway' ended its New York run after three years and record setting number of performances for a comedy, 1,135.
