BWW Review: THE KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTLE, Barbican Centre
In 1607 Francis Beaumont was about to premiere his new play The Knight of the Burning Pestle, the pastiche that was set to change British comedy forever. It sees a bunch of audience members taking charge and invading the stage, dissatisfied with how the show they're watching is developing. Cheek By Jowl's current touring collaboration with Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre is a revisited version of the piece.

BWW Interview: Director Declan Donnellan Talks THE WINTER'S TALE
Declan Donnellan is the co-Artistic Director of Cheek By Jowl. He's helmed over 30 productions for the company, touring to nearly 400 cities across six continents, and has also directed productions for the National Theatre, the RSC, the Avignon, and the Edinburgh and Salzburg Festivals, as well as opera, dance and film. Cheek By Jowl's The Winter's Tale is currently on the UK leg of a major international tour.

In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl today announce that their critically acclaimed Russian language production of Measure for Measure will open the 2016 Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle, Kronborg, Elsinore, with performances from 1 to 7 August. The festival will also celebrate a landmark anniversary, marking the 200th year of performing Shakespeare in this traditional setting.
