Great Performances to Premiere AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and More of 'Broadway's Best'
Great Performances presents more of the Great White Way's brightest stars with a new "Broadway's Best" lineup premiering Fridays, November 2-23 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). Returning for a second year, this fall's lineup includes the beloved musicals "An American in Paris The Musical" and Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music," as well as documentaries about the making of John Leguizamo's Tony-nominated play "Latin History for Morons" and 21-time Tony-winning director and producer Harold Prince. All programs will be available to stream the following day via pbs.org/gperf and PBS apps.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL Flies Into Melbourne This March
The Melbourne Season of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL features four young actresses who will share the title role. They are (in alphabetical order) Dusty Bursill, Tiana Mirra, Alannah Parfett and Ingrid Torelli. The winner of over 50 international awards, including 12 for Best Musical, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is currently enjoying a sellout season in Sydney and will make its Melbourne Premiere at Princess Theatre from 13 March 2016, with tickets currently on sale from Ticketmaster for performances through to 22 May 2016.
West End's MATILDA to Open on Broadway Spring 2013?
The show transfered to London's West End and opened November 24 to tremendous critical acclaim. Today, Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post that the show is now aiming to open on Broadway in the Spring of 2013, produced by the RSC themselves and overseen by Andre Ptaszynski, who formerly ran Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Really Useful Group.
