Craft Recordings To Release Anthology Of Influential American Guitar And Banjo Music From the Takoma And Vanguard Vaults
On March 23, Craft Recordings will release The Thousand Incarnations Of The Rose: American Primitive Guitar and Banjo (1963-1974) on 2LP, CD, and digital. This new compilation celebrates the groundbreaking, inventive approach to traditional instrumentation brought forward by an impressive group of maverick artists whose interpretations of folk, blues, and traditional song gave rise to one of American music's most unique and influential stylistic schools, known today as American Primitive. Featured artists on the compilation, which serves as a 'Who's Who' of the genre, include John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Robbie Basho, Harry Taussig and more. The two-LP vinyl edition features deluxe gatefold packaging, and a tipped-in booklet containing new liner notes by compilation producer Glenn Jones and illustrations by Drew Christie. The CD configuration comes housed in a softpack and features a booklet containing both Jones' notes and Christie's artwork.

BalletCollective to Present World Premiere at The Joyce Theatre
Troy Schumacher, Director of BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) today announced that the company will make its Joyce Theater debut on August 14 and 15 with a program that will include a world premiere collaboration between Schumacher, composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, poet Cynthia Zarin and new music ensemble ACME, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012). In other news, seven company dancers will be featured in the spring issue of Carine Roitfeld's new high gloss magazine, CR Fashion Book. An online film featuring dancers Ashley Laracey, Lauren King, David Applebaum and Taylor Stanley will be released in conjunction with the magazine release.

Erik King of 'Dexter' Joins Cast of Vineyard's 'Wig Out!'
Actor Erik King, best known for his portrayal of Sergeant James Doakes on Showtime's 'Dexter,' is set to join the cast of Tarell Alvin McCraney's new play WIG OUT! beginning previews September 10 prior to its official press opening September 30 at The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street).
