Review: ON THE ROPES, Park Theatre
On the Ropes is a play about fighting - in more ways than one. In the first act, it’s about fighting in a very literal sense, tracking the boxing career of Vernon Vanriel. After the interval, however, Vanriel faces a new opponent: the Home Office’s new Windrush legislation. Combining a story that spans over fifty years with live singing and choreography, this is an expansive, ambitious production with a real life story at its core.

BWW Review: SNOWFLAKE, Kiln Theatre
It's Christmas Eve and Andy (Elliot Levey) is waiting for his daughter Maya (Ellen Robertson) to come back to him. She left home three years prior after they had - according to her father - a silly argument and she hasn't spoken to him since, nor has she replied to his texts. But someone has seen her in a café in Oxford, so Andy feels that she's ready to finally meet him. He's decked the village hall to welcome her back and he's sure she's coming, even though there are no signs of her. Then, Natalie (Amber James) bursts through the door.

BWW Review: VASSA, Almeida Theatre
Maxim Gorky's Vassa Zheleznova is currently playing at the Almeida Theatre, in a new adaptation from Mike Bartlett a?' a playwright of brilliant achievements. The last time Gorky's play had a version of it on was in a lukewarm production at the Southwark Playhouse in 2016. The production here was thrown into the contemporary without much substance to back it up. Bartlett keeps it traditional, putting questions of capitalist corruption at the forefront of the narrative. His version is a black comedy, a jovial piece filled with many zingy one-liners and exciting punchiness.
