BWW Review: AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS is a Modern Day USO Show at The Green Room 42
AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS is a bit of an organization. The group consists of eleven women but only three perform at any one performance. Tonight’s trio consisted of group founder Carly Kincannon, Amanda Lavergne (Annie, The People in the Picture, ) and Kristen Michelle (Once Upon a Mattress.) Their show is a bundle of joy that makes you want to tap your toes and dance in the aisles. Their energy is infectious. They even managed a costume change going from modified WACS uniforms to slinky burgundy sequin gowns.

In 1993, creative Broadway talents combined some of the most beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein songs from their hugely successful career and created 'A Grand Night for Singing'. It was nominated for two Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and featured future Tony award winners. Now, the Sandhills Repertory Theatre is bringing this exciting show to the Sandhills. 'I have loved Rodgers and Hammerstein shows all my life, and their music speaks to our humanity, with some of the most beloved music and lyrics of all time. Bring It On premiered at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia in January 2011. The cast included Amanda LaVergne as Campbell, Adrienne Warren as Danielle, Nick Blaemire as Randall and 'award-winning competitive cheerleaders from across the country'. In November 2011, a national tour of the musical started at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles, through December 2011.

The West Side YMCA's Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater will present its 3rd annual benefit cabaret, Little Theater, Big Dreams tonight, May 13th at 7PM. The Off-Broadway hidden gem, located inside the historic West Side Y, will play host to powerful performances from Broadway's brightest up-and-coming stars alongside their own Kids Company, a group of young (6-14 year old) triple-threats-in-training. All proceeds will benefit the on-going youth theatre programs supported by the Y's Strong Kids Campaign.
