BIO

Amanda began her acting career at 16 when she was
cast as the Mother Abbess in her high school production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and has been at home on the stage ever since. She is a core ensemble member of Williams Street Repertory, the in-house theatre company at Raue Center for the Arts, appearing in productions of SWEENEY TODD (Mrs. Lovett), BAREFOOT IN THE PARK (Corie Bratter), SHE LOVES ME (Ilona Ritter), COMPANY (Amy), I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE (Woman 1), THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Magenta), STEEL MAGNOLIAS (Annelle), THE FANTASTICKS
(Henry), and IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: THE RADIO PLAY(Tilly/Harry/Bert/Mrs. Hatch), and assistant directing SHORT STORIES AND TALL TALES. Amanda's performance in SWEENEY TODD earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical in the 2013 BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards. She is also the program manager of Sage Studio, the Raue Center's theatre education program. Amanda also served for five seasons as the associate director of Prairie Fire Children's Theatre in Barrett, MN, supervising touring productions and appearing onstage in tours of PETER PAN (Tiger Lil), ALICE IN WONDERLAND (Queen of Hearts), TOM SAWYER (Rightful King of France), ALAADIN (Genie of the Lamp) and THE WIZARD OF OZ (Wicked Witch of the West). Other favorite credits include Judas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Elgin Summer Theatre); Miss Hannigan in ANNIE (Elgin Summer Theatre); Princess Winnifred in ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (Theatre 7); Gabby/Bobbi in CITY OF ANGELS (Summer Music Theatre); and Ado Annie in OKLAHOMA! (Summer Music Theatre). She is a graduate of Millikin University (BFA musical theatre), and lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband Chad.

In 1959 Ethel Merman, the prominent musical theatre actress of her time, and David Merrick were searching for their next project. After reading an excerpt from the memoir by Gypsy Rose Lee, Merrick felt they had said project and GYPSY was born.
