THE CHRISTINE JORGENSEN SHOW Will Return Off-Broadway This Fall

The Christine Jorgensen Show, the acclaimed musical production that played to sold-out audiences last spring at 59E59 Theatres, will return to New York for a limited engagement at HERE (145 6th Ave) from Thursday, October 10, 2024 to Sunday, November 17, 2024.

After 20 years of presenting acclaimed concerts in visual art spaces, Look + Listen has decided to end operations. Look + Listen is presenting a free 'Farewell Concert' on Saturday, October 29 (7 pm) at the Invisible Dog Art Center, 51 Bergen St. in Brooklyn, NY.
Art Center Sarasota Announces Winners Of Regional Exhibition, FACES AND PLACES, Running Through August 6

Christina Baril, exhibitions coordinator for Art Center Sarasota, announced the winners for its regional, juried exhibit, “Faces and Places,” which runs through August 6. Baril says the center received submissions from 173 artists from the Southeast region. Baril says the work had to inspired by or reflect their surrounding community, including faces, places, landscapes, and societal experiences.

Art Center Sarasota encourages area-based artists to submit artwork for its regional, juried exhibit, “Faces and Places,” which runs June 2-August 6. Submissions are open to artists from the Southeast region and can be in any media.

World Premiere Play MAVERICK Depicts Orson Welles' Final Days

Executive Producers Pam Carter and The Cliplight Theater, in conjunction with Amanda Cooper/ALC Management, are pleased to announce the world premiere of Maverick, co-authored by Frank Beacham and George Demas. A dramatization of co-author Beacham's real-life experience collaborating with Orson Welles in the months leading up to his death, Maverick begins previews at The Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St., between Ave. A & Ave. B) on February 6, with opening night set for February 13 for a limited run through March 2. San Diego Junior Theatre, with a mission to provide engaging, innovative, high-quality theatre education and productions for children of all cultural heritages, ages, abilities and levels of interest continues its 70th Anniversary with a production of AKEELAH AND THE BEE, directed by James Saba. AKEELAH AND THE BEE is written by Cheryl L. West, based on the book by Doug Atchison. The production will showcase the work of Diego Junior Theatre youth performers and youth technicians, ranging in age from 8 to18. The production runs from March 2nd - 11th.

LOOK + LISTEN FESTIVAL Announces Dates and Programming for 16th Anniversary Season

Each year, the Look + Listen Festival presents the best of new music in New York City art spaces in an effort to expand the audience for both art forms. The New Yorker has said, "This series…builds on the spirit of the postwar New York School by placing vibrant concerts of new music into forward-looking art galleries." Time Out NY has described Look + Listen as "an ambitious grassroots music and visual art series that grows more impressive with each passing year." This year's festival takes place May 18-21, bringing performances to contemporary art venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan: Pratt Manhattan Gallery in Chelsea, BRIC House in Fort Greene, and The Studio Museum in Harlem.

'What To Do When You Hate Your Friends' Extended Through 8/23

Four Chairs Theatre Company proudly announces an extension for What To Do When You Hate All Your Friends, an anti-social comedy written by award-winning playwright Larry Kunofsky and directed by Jacob Krueger (The Matthew Shepard Story). Originally slated to run through August 9, the new hit comedy has been extended through August 23 on Theatre Row, at The Lion Theatre located at 410 West 42 Street between 9 & 10 Avenues in NYC
