Additional Performers Announced For Break Out Festival At Second City
The Second City is pleased to announce the hottest up-and-coming diverse comedic voices in a weekend of events taking place in Chicago June 6-9, 2019. The exciting five day event kicks off with the 6th annual Bob Curry Fellowship Showcase on Wednesday, June 6th highlighting 16 of the best and brightest improvisers and sketch performers on the rise. Anchoring the weekend is The Second City and NBC's 5th Annual Break Out Comedy Festival, which spotlights a four day lineup of artists from across the country. Headlining host and returning Chicago native Godfrey (Comedy Central, VH1, BET) takes the mic on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th, with guest hosts Second City alum Christina Anthony (Comedy Central, Key and Peele) on Thursday, June 6th, and the Chicago Tribune's Comedian of the Year 2017 Felonious Munk (Comedy Central, Nothing to Lose (But Our Chains)) on Sunday, June 9th.

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN Opens the 2019 Season at Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County
One of the silver screen's most popular musicals, Singin' in the Rain comes to the stage of Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County with all the trappings of a box office smash: memorable score, talented actors and enough technical razzle-dazzle to delight even the most discerning of theater-goers. Opening February 8 (and continuing through February 23) at ACCC, the stage musical stars Austin Jeffrey Smith, Lindsey Mapes Duggin and Daxton Patrick in the film roles immortalized by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in the award-winning 1952 film version.

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN at ACCC to Reunite Director and Star After Almost 20 Years
In an act of theatrical symmetry, full of the 'whimsical magic' only live performance can provide, the first production of Arts Center of Cannon County's 2019 Season - the stage version of Singin' in the Rain - will reunite the director with his leading actress, whom he first cast in her very first musical when she was nine years old. It's been almost 20 years since the last time veteran director Jeffrey Ellis initially worked with Lindsey Mapes Duggin, the director of education for Arts Center of Cannon County, who will lead the cast of Singin' in the Rain as its heroine, young star-to-be Kathy Selden, as well as taking on the role of producer.

BWW Review: Springhouse Theatre's MARY POPPINS Features Strong Leading Performances
Despite some opening night technical problems, inconsistent sound issues and a lack of confidence performing Elizabeth Krebs' choreography, Mary Poppins - the musical theater version of the Disney film that was inspired by P.L. Travers' stories which, in turn, were loosely inspired by her own childhood adventures - opened to a rousing ovation from the audience at Smyrna's Springhouse Theatre Company Friday night.
