BIO

Allison studied dance and theatre at UCLA, and graduated magna cum laude. Her acting work included recurring roles on two TV series and a co-starring role in a film with James Franco. Dance performance highlights included swing dancing at The Hollywood Bowl alongside Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a featured swing and Latin dancer in the national tour of SWING!, and entertaining U.S. troops in Bosnia and Kosovo.

Allison moved into directing and choreography, and has received much recognition for her work: She has received an LA Drama Critic’s Circle Nomination for her choreography in THE WHO’S TOMMY, two LA Weekly Award Nominations for her work on GODSPELL and 1776, and two Garlands for SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD (nomination) and THE WHO’S TOMMY (award). Allison was the assistant choreographer for XANADU on Broadway, which received four Tony nominations, including Best New Musical and Best Choreography, and was honored to work with Tony winner Kathleen Marshall on APPLAUSE at City Center Encores! in NYC, starring Christine Ebersole. In 2013, Allison received a slew of rave reviews for her direction of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at ICT in Long Beach. The show was the LA Times Critics Choice, and reviewers called her work “a feat of notable capability, “innovative,” “cleverness personified” and “superb, right on target.”

For the past several years, Allison has focused her attention on directing new plays and musicals. IN 2014, she directed and choreographed the West Coast premiere of the hilarious new musical CHINA, THE WHOLE ENCHILADA (by Mark Brown - the same writer who adapted the 80 DAYS she recently worked on).

Allison also wrote, directed and line produced two web series about swing dance, and executive produced two TV movies for The Hallmark Channel – both garnered outstanding ratings. Much more at www.AllisonBibicoff.com

BWW Review: PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES Will Win You Over Hook, Line, and Sinker

One thing's for sure - country musicals are an awful lot of fun. There aren't very many of them and, if you can name one at all, it's most likely THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS or THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM. But there is another rarely produced gem that is just as enjoyable - PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES - the fun-loving retro revue written by its original cast (John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann).

Bangor's Penobscot Theatre Company is devoting the month of December to a jaunty, spirited production of the Lionel Bart musical, Oliver!. Directed/choreographed by Allison Bibicoff, production is clearly a labor of love, employing (for this theatre) a moderately large cast and the best of the company's current resources. Those nostalgic for Three Stooges slapstick or old-time vaudeville will thoroughly enjoy playwright Mark Brown's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. 'Pro99' Actors' Equity Members Send Open Letter to AEA President

Members of the 'Pro99' movement of Actors' Equity Association have issued an open letter to AEA's newly elected president, Kate Shindle, in response to her victory and to her inaugural address as president of the national union for actors and stage managers. The open letter is signed by over 400 Equity members (listed below), including such notable names as Ed Asner, Francis Fisher, Sally Kirkland and Alfred Molina. The 'Pro99' movement formed in late 2014 in opposition to AEA's rollout of a new plan that will effectively force 'intimate theaters' in Los Angeles to pay Equity actors minimum wage, go 'non-union' or even close - despite an overwhelming vote against the plan by 66% of the Los Angeles membership on an advisory referendum. 'Pro99' members around the nation, who take their name from the current AEA '99 Seat Plan' that allows members to volunteer in smaller venues, oppose AEA's new promulgated plan. They are requesting that Equity leadership put a moratorium on the plan until local members' voices can be heard, and that the union work with its members to develop an alternative plan that will more realistically address the needs of the Los Angeles theater community.
