DEPARTURE, Starring Archie Panjabi and Christopher Plummer, Now In Production
Global announced today that it has commissioned a new Canadian original six-part event series, Departure. Produced by Shaftesbury and Greenpoint Productions Ltd., the thrilling drama is directed by Canadian Screen Award Winner T.J. Scott (Orphan Black, Star Trek: Discovery), with Malcolm MacRury (Saving Hope) joining as showrunner, and created by Vincent Shiao (Ransom, Aftermath). With principal photography now underway in Toronto, the Canada/UK co- production will also shoot in London, England. The project was developed by Shaftesbury in association with Corus Entertainment and Red Arrow Studios International.

BWW Interviews: Philip Riccio Talks Speaking in Tongues
Speaking in Tongues is the latest offering from Company Theatre, and it opened this past week at the Berkeley Street Theatre where it will run until November 24th. The show tells the story of nine interconnected people and explores issues such as infidelity, intimacy, and human connection. It is directed by Company Theatre co-founded Philip Riccio, who sat down to talk to BWW about the challenges that come with directing a play such as this, the mature subject matter and his vision for Company Theatre.
Canadian Stage Announces Collaboration With The Company Theatre For Berkeley Street Project, 12/9
Canadian Stage today announced The Company Theatre (A Whistle in the Dark, Festen, Through the Leaves) as the newest collaborators in The Berkeley Street Project, an ongoing partnership initiative that profiles Toronto's independent theatre community while presenting vibrant, contemporary theatre in the city. The Company Theatre will produce a yet-to-be-announced production at the Berkeley Street Theatre as part of Canadian Stage's 2011.2012 subscription season.
Rhode Island International Film Festival To Screen 235 Films During 13TH Annual RIFF EVENT
With films and filmmakers arriving from across the globe, the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) kicks off its 13th annual event August 4th-9th, 2009. This year 235 feature length, documentary and short films - from 57 countries - will be screened over a six-day period In locations throughout the state, all vying for top awards. Out of over 7,000 film festivals worldwide, RIIFF is one of only 63 Academy Award qualifying Festivals. This year's films have been selected from a record entry base of over 3,000 submissions.
