Alison Arnopp has studied both classical singing (Royal College of Music with Patricia Rozario) and musical theatre (Royal Academy of Music with Maureen Scott) at post graduate level in London, after initially training and working as a stage and television actress in her home city of Cork, Ireland (UCC, Robert Beare).
Credits include: Kate O'Donovan (T'ain't a Bird, workshop, Dir. Tamara Harvey), Ophelia Van de Scab ( Constance & Sinestra and the Cabinet of Screams, Action to the Word), Young Shepherd (Tannhauser, Dir. Tim Albery, Royal Opera House), 2nd Lady (The Magic Flute, London Youth Opera), Alison (The Wandering Scholar, Opera Les Fauves), Soloist (Thursford Christmas Spectacular), Featured vocalist (The Fingask Follies), Choir (Celtic Woman, Songs from the Heart US Tour), Ensemble (My Land's Shore). She has also provided session vocals for folk, pop and funk bands as well as animations and short films.
During her studies Alison has been supported by Ian Fleming Musical Theatre Award (MBF), Irish Arts Council, Josephine Baker Trust, Lionel Bart Foundation. In 2013 she was awarded third prize in the international Lotte Lenya SInging Competition, the criteria of which spans opera and classic and contemporary American musical theatre repertoire. Alison has been supported by the Professional Development Grant (2014&2015) from the Kurt Weill Foundation and would like to extend her thanks to the Foundation for their continued support.
Last Spring saw the airing of an episode of 'Obsession: Dark Desires' in which Alison plays the lead role of opera singer Leandra Ramm. The show was broadcast on Investigation Discovery in the US and on Crime and Investigation in the UK.
Alison will take over the role of Dusty in 'Dusty' at the Charing Cross Theatre from August 26th
