Robert John Weber, Jr., 63, passed away May 3rd in Wanaque, New Jersey. Born in Midland, Michigan, Robert was a dancer, actor and choreographer who performed on Broadway in Miss Saigon and Meet Me in St. Louis, in the Broadway national tour of Jerome Robbins Broadway and as principal soloist with multiple European ballet companies.
Dancing Times Magazine Celebrates 110 Years This Month
1910 saw George V ascend to the throne, the trial and execution of Dr Crippen, the publication of EM Forster's Howard's End and the birth of Alice Marks, later Alicia Markova, the country's first prima ballerina. 'Nick Mauss: Transmissions' To Open At The Whitney
For his first solo museum show in the United States, artist Nick Mauss (b. 1980) will present Transmissions, an exhibition conceived for the Whitney, which explores the reciprocal relationship of modernist ballet and the avant-garde in New York from the 1930s through '50s. The exhibition-which features daily dance performances in the Whitney's eighth-floor Hurst Family Galleries-goes on view March 16.
