OTHELLO Comes To The Long Beach Playhouse
In 1603, William Shakespeare wrote Othello, a tragic play that told of love, jealousy, lies, manipulation and murder. In his tragic masterpiece Othello, a powerful Moorish general, elopes with the Venetian lady Desdemona. When Othello chooses Cassio as his chief lieutenant, Iago's jealousy takes over. Seeking revenge he puts into motion a scheme to end the nuptial happiness of Othello and Desdemona. A dropped handkerchief commences the poison of false accusations, distrust and eventually murder. Iago's meddling arouses Othello's insecurities about himself. He begins to believe he is no longer attractive to his younger wife. Othello's plea to be remembered as one who 'loved not wisely but too well' brings his tragic mistake to an end.
Novo Amor Shares Heartwrenching Video For New Single UTICAN
Novo Amor has unveiled the official video for his new single 'Utican', which premiered earlier today on The FADER. The track is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming debut album Birthplace, to be released on October 19 via AllPoints. Much like the video for the album's title track - which seeks to address the monolithic problem of plastic in our oceans - and was awarded Independent Video of the Year at the AIM Awards earlier this week - the storyline for the 'Utican' video also centers on a topical and emotional issue, befitting of the cinematic nature of Novo Amor's music.
BWW Reviews: TEAM OF HEROES 3 at Annex Suffers Lack of Pace and Plot
The conclusion of the "Team of Heroes" Trilogy, "Team of Heroes: No More Heroes" currently playing at Annex Theatre has swooped in to save us all, but it could use some saving of its own. Yes, all of your favorite damaged superheroes and super villains are there as well as little gimmicks and tricks to make the audience squeal, but unfortunately the show slowly plods along with no direction or purpose and ultimately fizzles.
BWW Reviews: Disjointed But Clever TEAM OF HEROES: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS at Annex Theatre
The Heroes are back! Annex Theatre's favorite band of supers have returned for a prequel to their hit "Alecto: Issue #1" with the uproarious "Team of Heroes: Behind Closed Doors". And while the hilarity and amazingly clever staging is back with some new surprises and some actual poignant moments, at times the show seems in desperate need of some editing as it felt a bit disjointed and over complicated.
Annex Theatre Presents TEAM OF HEROES, 4/20-5/19
It's not easy being a superhero- or the teenage daughter of a single mom. In Team of Heroes: Behind Closed Doors poor Melissa is both. Good thing she has a way with floating knives.
Team of Heroes: Behind Closed Doors is a prequel to Alecto: Issue #1, one of the most popular shows in Annex Theatre's 25 year history. The story moves back and forth in time, telling both the story of the Team of Heroes and their first encounter with supervillian Chaos Theory, and the story of teenaged Melissa, who will grow up to become Madame Mayhem.
